When Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins (AKA: The guy who stayed on the ship and is pretty much always forgotten in the history books… except for maybe Irish history… but then that’s a different Michael Collins) set out for the moon, they were on a mission. A mission to create a ton of trivial facts for future generations. The famous line is “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Turns out, it was a giant leap all around. The lunar lander was set down so gently that the shock absorbers didn’t deflate. When Neil got to the bottom of the ladder, there was another 3.5 feet to go to the moon.
I don’t know about the moon, buddy, but here on a little planet we like to call earth, 3 feet from the curb is a parking violation.
